This quick guide is designed to help you in navigating our eco yoga mat collection so you can decide which one is best for you.
The cork mat comes in 3mm and 4mm thicknesses and has a smooth cork top and a natural rubber underside. Both cork and rubber are sustainable materials and they are also biodegradable. Its a substantial mat and it's heavy - the 3mm weighs in at 2.2kg and the 4mm at 2.4kg - which means it rolls out beautifully and connects well with the ground. This mat provides a warm, tactile surface on which to practice and has a great grippy surface to eliminate any sliding during downward dog!
The cork travel mat has all the benefits of the cork surface but it has a very cushioned TPE underside and the overall effect is a 5mm thick surface on which to practice. Despite it's thickness, this mat is super lightweight at only 850grams and so ideal to pop over your shoulder if you are taking public transport, cycling or walking to your class.
The sticky mat comes in the standard 60cm width but we also stock a wide version at 80.5cm which provides a really generous working surface. We also offer these mats in extra long which has proven very popular. These are really durable and long lasting and can even be machine washed on a gentle cycle (no more than 40 degrees). This mat is free of AZO, DOP, Phthalates, Latex, Bisphenol-A, Lead and Toxins and they have Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification which means this mat is skin-friendly! Best of all, it does what is says on the tin! It sticks well to the ground and provides a great grippy surface on which to practice.
The cotton yoga rug is made from organic cotton and is 4mm thick. It's soft and comfortable and stylish. It's not grippy though, so if you are not planning to use it on top of a carpet - where it will not slip - you will need to place it on top of another mat. Its nice to feel the cotton underfoot when working though and you get a great connection with the earth beneath.
The ecoYoga Jute Mat is an entirely "sticky" mat and is composed from plant-based ingredients, 100% natural rubber compound and specifically selected jute weave. It's a 4mm thick mat and provides a solid, grippy surface on which to practice. It's a thing of beauty and comes in five different colours to suit all tastes.
