Eco-Friendly Habits to Adopt Today to Change the World Tomorrow
Our ecosystem and our environment have been damaged, and in some ways irreversibly harmed. We are facing climate change, deforestation, animal extinction, and lack of biodiversity, amongst many other pressing issues.
Whilst damage has been done, we are also advised that we have still to reach a point of no return. In fact, there are still eco-friendly, sustainable habits that we can adopt today to change the health of our planet for tomorrow.
In this article, we’ll be sharing several small habits that you can choose to implement today that could make global changes tomorrow. By doing so as a species, coming together with a common goal of improving the health of our planet both now and for the future, we can be the change; we can become eco-warriors.
Four Eco-Friendly Habits for a Better Tomorrow
While there are numerous eco-friendly and sustainable habits that one can implement to improve the health and wellness of our precious planet, some are more effective than others. 1. Reduce or Eliminate the Use of Plastic
There are 380 million tons of plastic being produced every year. Studies show that approximately 10 million tons of this plastic ends up in our oceans. This has a devastating effect on the oceans and their ecosystems.

2. Reduce Your Emission Contribution
Becoming more eco-friendly requires you to adopt habits that may change the way you live on a day-to-day basis. Reducing your individual emission contribution is no different. Whether it’s reducing the amount you fly or drive, carpooling where possible, getting regular vehicle check-ups to ensure efficiency, switching to an electric vehicle, walking and biking where possible, and at the very least, reducing your weekly fuel consumption are all effective ways to reduce emissions.
Figure out what works best for you and your lifestyle and know that however small the change is, it will have an impact.
3. “Greenerize” Your Home
Thanks to the innovators of our time, we no longer live by candle light and labour for everything we need and desire. However, this has come at a cost. By "greenerizing" your household, you reduce your negative contribution to the environment. In order make your home eco-friendly, consider investing in energy-saving, eco-friendly lightbulbs, programmable thermostats, and effective & efficient insulation throughout.
Just these few small changes are the first steps in bringing about big change.
4. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Last but not least, while this saying might be a little outdated to some, it still holds true today. Everything we purchase, everything we consume, and everything we throw away has an environmental or carbon footprint. We are a materialistic society and all the while we continue to purchase new goods and clothing we are ultimately often contributing to landfill.
Consider becoming the ultimate eco-warrior by making only the most conscious of purchases, pay a little more but buy a little less and in doing so, invest in sustainability. And of course be sure to recycle your unwanted stuff.
Reduce, reuse, recycle and harness the power to improve our world.
